LDES 2025年度會員大會:打造安全強韌的能源系統基礎

Ensuring reliable electricity supplies while maintaining affordability for consumers and businesses presents a dual challenge; long duration energy storage (LDES) has emerged as a critical infrastructure solution for today’s energy systems. Against this backdrop, the LDES Council Annual Member Meeting 2025 will convene the world's foremost energy leaders in Copenhagen on 13-14 May to chart the course toward more resilient and economically sustainable energy systems.

Hosted at Ørsted's global headquarters and co-hosted with Alfa Laval, this exclusive gathering represents the premier forum for advancing practical, scalable LDES solutions. The curated program, built around the theme “Flex or Fail: Why the Future Runs on LDES” will bring together policymakers, industry executives, and technology solution providers to translate vision into actionable strategies addressing today's most pressing energy challenges.

Across every major economy, energy security, system resilience, and affordability became fundamental requirements,” Julia Souder, CEO of the LDES Council, said. “We are not just demonstrating how LDES solutions are already delivering real-world benefits, but creating opportunities for a variety of use cases strengthening system reliability, stabilising electricity prices, and providing crucial resilience, specifically with electrical demand growth from industrial electrification, heat processing and data centres."

The selection of Copenhagen as host city carries particular significance, offering participants firsthand exposure to Denmark's world-class energy transition while facilitating discussions about universal challenges in grid modernization. Ørsted's leadership in renewable energy integration and Alfa Laval's expertise in industrial energy solutions provide the ideal platform for these critical conversations.

We’re delighted to host the LDES event in our headquarter in Copenhagen. Advancing solutions that help integrating substantial volumes of wind and solar energy is pivotal for a world that runs entirely on green energy. Our innovation team is committed to help bring solutions to market that support a large deployment of offshore wind and the overall energy system decarbonization journey," says Marika Reis, Head of Strategy, Innovation & Consulting at Ørsted.
“According to the COP28 commitment, the world must double the rate of improvement in energy efficiency and triple the rate of renewable energy by 2030. That is why energy storage is pivotal when driving the shift towards renewable energy sources. Partnerships are essential for implementing the existing technologies and accelerate the deployment and commercialization of clean energy innovations. We are proud to co-host the LDES Council Annual Member Meeting showcasing our Innovation House to the members,” says Thomas Møller, President Energy Division and Executive Vice President of Alfa Laval.

The comprehensive two-day program is structured to provide attendees with actionable insights across several dimensions of energy system transformation. Technical sessions will examine where LDES deployment has demonstrably strengthened system reliability while reducing overall costs. Policy discussions will analyze evolving market designs that properly value energy security and flexibility, with particular attention to regulatory frameworks that incentivize long duration energy storage deployment for power to power, power to heat, and power to X solutions. Technology demonstrations will highlight advancements, showcasing enhanced performance metrics to provide a clear perspective on the LDES pipeline and increased bankability.

For utility executives, the meeting offers unique, globally-informed content on operational integration challenges, including presentations and discussions about system planning approaches that properly account for long duration energy storage capabilities and dispatch optimisation strategies for storage assets. Policymakers will gain critical, on-the-ground perspectives from dedicated roundtables examining market design innovations, and regulatory approaches to power, heat, and cooling deployment. The Annual Member Meeting represents an extremely valuable convergence point for the ecosystem of stakeholders shaping the world’s energy future.

The LDES Council continues to serve as the central hub for knowledge exchange and collaborative problem-solving in this critical sector, and this year’s convening will set the agenda for the next phase of LDES deployment in marketplaces around the world.
