Alfa Laval與AquaGreen簽署合作備忘錄,共同推動水資源與廢棄物解決方案

Alfa Laval and AquaGreen have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the transformation of biomass and waste into renewable thermal energy and biochar. This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in advancing sustainable water and waste management technologies.

By combining Alfa Laval’s expertise in decanter centrifuge technology with AquaGreen’s innovative Integrated Drying & Pyrolysis (IDP) system, the two companies aim to deliver comprehensive, high-efficiency solutions for sludge dewatering, CO₂ reduction, carbon sequestration, elimination of environmental pollutants, and resource recovery. The collaboration supports municipalities and industries in meeting their environmental goals while contributing to the circular economy.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Carl Rehncrona, President, Business Unit Decanters, Alfa Laval. “Together, we can accelerate the adoption of new technologies that turn waste into valuable resources.”

Henning Schmidt-Petersen, Founder and CCO, AquaGreen, added, “Our joint efforts will unlock new market opportunities and drive impactful change in how we manage and utilize waste.”

“We can significantly reduce micropollutants such as pharmaceutical residues and PFAS, substances that are notoriously difficult to remove with conventional methods,” concluded Jesper Jarngren, Vice President, Global Sales, Business Unit Decanters, “At the same time, we unlock new opportunities for resource recovery by converting sludge into biochar and renewable energy.”

The MoU outlines joint activities including market development, technology innovation, after sales services and knowledge sharing, with a focus on delivering integrated solutions that reduce environmental impact and promote long-term sustainability.

About AquaGreen

AquaGreen is a Danish engineering company within cleantech backed by various investors including the Danish Workers’ Pension Fund (ATP), developed and patented with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), with proven technology designed to tackle not one, but three planetary challenges.

First, AquaGreen's pyrolysis treatment supports environmental protection. It removes harmful substances like microplastics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and PFAS, which prevents groundwater pollution, avoiding environmental harm and public health risks. Additionally, the produced biochar can be used for wastewater filtration and soil remediation, eliminating even more pollutants.

Secondly, the technology is engineered to combat the climate crisis. It prevents waste from releasing greenhouse gases, captures atmospheric CO₂ and stores it in biochar for millions of years. Surplus energy generated during the process can even be regained to replace fossil fuels in the production of local or district heating.

And thirdly, AquaGreen plays an important role in resource preservation, recycling scarce minerals such as phosphorus. This reduces the reliance on finite resources and provides a versatile and valuable soil improver and fertiliser.
